After a quiet start to the trading session, the key benchmark indices were seen holding losses in noon deals on the back of weakness in IT, FMCG and select banking shares.
The Sensex was down around 300-odd points at 57,300 levels, while the Nifty was languishing around 17,150-level.
Among the Sensex 30 shares, Reliance Industries, Kotak Bank and SBI held marginal gains; Whereas, Titan slipped over 3 per cent. Tech Mahindra, Maruti, Nestle, Wipro, PowerGrid, Larsen & Toubro and Infosys were the other notable losers.
The broader markets also slipped into the negative zone. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices were down around 0.2 per cent each.
Sectorally, the BSE Consumer Durables shed 2 per cent; the IT and FMCG indices were down around a per cent each. On the positive side, the BSE Realty index jumped over a per cent, and the Telecom index added 0.5 per cent.
