Asian indices crack as Brent hits $90; Nikkei down 2%

Global markets

Asia-Pacific markets started the week on soft footing as investors look ahead China’s third-quarter gross domestic product numbers on Wednesday.


In Australia, the S&P/ASX 200 0.24 per cent lower. Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 1.67 per cent, while South Korea’s Kospi index dipped 0.58 per cent.

Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index shed 0.35 per cent, while China’s benchmark CSI 300 index dipped 0.74 per cent. 

Last Friday, the S&P 500 declined by 0.50 per cent in the US while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 1.23 per cent. The Dow Jones Industrial Average was the outlier, rising by 0.12 per cent.
