The Dream Deep Sutera Pillow is made of firm but breathable memory foam. It is made to help you sleep better by molding your head and improving the alignment of your spine. Different sleeping positions often need pillows with varying firmness levels for maximum support and comfort. At Reviewed, we make recommendations based on how you like to sleep. The Dream Deep Pillow is made to work for everyone, whether you sleep on your stomach, back, or side.
The pillow’s curved edges, which the company calls its “butterfly” design, are one of its best parts. Notches on the sides of the pillow make small spaces that let you snuggle the pillow as you fall asleep without causing your arms to have trouble getting blood flow. If you sleep on your back, you can use one of the shaped rests to tuck one arm under the pillow. If you sleep on your side, you can hug the edges. The Sutera Pillow also has a small hollow where your head can rest.
I liked what the Sutera Dream Deep Pillow had to offer.
The Sutera Pillow made it easier to sleep on your back.
I usually sleep on my stomach, but I tried different positions to test the Dream Deep Pillow. The dip in the middle of the pillow made it much more comfortable for me to lie on my back. The way the pillow was shaped kept my head and neck in place and made me feel supported in a way that regular pillows don’t. I didn’t feel like my head was falling to one side or the other, as it usually does when I fall asleep in this position.
The Sutera Pillow also helped when I slept on my side, but I didn’t notice the difference as much as when I slept on my back. The arm notches gave me more stability when I lay on my side than my cheap pillows at home.
Sutera Pillow not too soft or too hard.
The memory foam in the Dream Deep Pillow was a good mix of soft and firm. It’s soft enough to let me rest comfortably but firm enough to support me. It felt just right, like Baby Bear’s bed.
Sutera Pillow helps keep things cool.
The cooling memory foam in the Dream Deep Pillow did what it was supposed to do: at night, the Sutera pillow was noticeably more relaxed than my regular bed pillows.
I didn’t like what the Sutera Dream Deep Pillow had to offer.
I wouldn’t say I liked how long the pillow kept giving off smells.
It smelled for several days after opening.
When you first open a foam mattress or Sutera Pillow, it is normal for them to smell bad. This is because the material gives off what are called “volatile organic compounds” (VOCs). Most VOCs aren’t dangerous to healthy adults, but at high levels, some of them may cause cancer. They smell bad either way.
Sutera says that its pillow will give off gases when you open it, so I was ready to let it air for a day. Unfortunately, the pillow smelled so bad that I couldn’t cuddle with it for a few days. I left it on my bedroom floor for almost a week until I was sure it didn’t smell anymore. Every day, I would pick it up, smell it, and decide that it still smelled too much like chemicals for me to want to put my head on it. The first thing I thought about the Dream Deep Sutera Pillow didn’t make me want to sleep with it.
Sutera Pillow only works with regular pillowcases.
Because of how the Dream Deep Sutera Pillow is shaped, it doesn’t work with regular pillowcases. It comes with a cover that can be taken off and washed, so this isn’t a big deal, but most buyers would be disappointed that they can’t use their favorite organic cotton or silk pillowcase. If you don’t like the polyester cover, you might be unable to change it.
Sutera Pillow wasn’t comfortable to sleep on your stomach.
Even though I liked sleeping on my back with this pillow, I thought it could have been better for sleeping on my stomach. It didn’t feel any better than the cheap fiberfill pillows I already have at home. I thought breathing with my head in the pillow’s center dip was harder than a normal pillow. The butterfly arms also didn’t help me when I slept on my stomach. My arms are usually close to my body when I sleep, not around my head.
